Janet Jackson is celebrating 40 years of her classic album ‘Control’ with a new documentary film.
Featuring Jackson performing the seminal LP in full, ‘Janet Jackson: Control 40’ will feature multi-camera footage from the superstar’s upcoming concert at Florida’s Amerant Bank Arena on December 12.
On the show, which will also feature songs from Jackson’s catalogue, she says: “It will be a whole new show – new costumes, new stage and maybe a little glimpse into the making of the album.
“It’s going to be filmed for a movie, which means that our time together will be remembered for decades.”
Released in 1986, ‘Control’ is Jackson’s third album and her first to reach No. 1 on the US Billboard 200, delivering a run of Hot 100 hits including ‘What Have You Done for Me Lately’, ‘Nasty’, ‘When I Think of You’, ‘Let’s Wait Awhile’ and the title song.
The run made the first female artist to score five Top 5 singles from one album, while ‘When I Think of You’ became her first chart-topping track.
In the UK, ‘Control’ was a Top 10 smash with three of its singles – ‘What Have You Done for Me Lately’, ‘When I Think of You’ and ‘Let’s Wait Awhile’ – all reaching the upper echelons of the charts.
