Cher has requested Kelly Clarkson re-records her vocals for the pair’s duet version of DJ Play A Christmas Song.
The track originally featured on the Believe hitmaker’s 2023 holiday album and has been re-released this year as a series of collaborations with artists in various languages.
First up was the remake featuring Kelly – who last year performed the song on her US TV show – and when Cher appeared on the programme to promote her memoir, she came with a special request.
“I would like you to go back, do it louder and let me put it on the Christmas album, because I’m new releasing it for the new Christmas,” Cher said, presumably hinting towards a 2025 reissue of the LP.
“I’ll do whatever the hell you want,” replied the Underneath The Tree singer. “I’m going to be honest with you. I took it as a ‘I’ll sing backup’ because you’re Cher.”
It comes ahead of the release of a deluxe edition of the album on Friday, December 6, featuring new versions of the single with artists including Spanish singer Belinda and Italian star Giovanni Zarrella, plus a Discotastique Mix of the Cyndi Lauper duet Angels In The Snow.
Meanwhile, Cher is also working on tracks for her 28th studio album, which she says will “probably” be her last.
