Britney Spears has quashed speculation that she’s working on a biopic based on her memoir ‘The Woman In Me’.
In August, it was reported that the Womanizer hitmaker was developing the film with ‘Wicked’ director Jon M Chu, after she shared a post on social media teasing “a secret project with [Marc Platt]”.
“He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned,” she said at the time.
However, in an update on Instagram, Britney revealed the project isn’t a biopic, but rather a “fictional musical” where the singer will play “an extremely intelligent character”.
Confirming Chu’s involvement, she added: “It’s flattering to be in such good company like Jon Chu!”
Chronicling the superstar’s journey from her ‘Mickey Mouse Club’ days through her conservatorship case, the memoir was widely praised for Spears’ candid account of the highs and lows of her life.
The audiobook — read by actress Michelle Williams, with an introduction by Spears — is the fastest-selling in Simon & Schuster’s history.
