Darlene Love has confirmed her involvement on Cher’s forthcoming ‘Christmas’ album, revealing the pair have come together for a massive new duet.
Celebrating 60 years since the release of the classic Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), the US singer confirmed she’s partnered with the pop icon to re-record her 1963 classic.
In a post on Facebook, she shared: “SURPRISE!!! Here’s the EXCITING news that I’ve been HINTING to you all!!!! Can’t wait for you all to hear my duet of ‘Christmas Baby, Please Come Home’ with my dear friend Cher!!!
“I’m so excited for this!! This is one of the BEST duets I’ve EVER done!!! I’m so so proud and honored to be part of Cher’s FIRST EVER Christmas album and to be reconnected with Cherilyn Sarkisian whom I’ve known before she became CHER the mega star!!”
In a recent interview, the Believe singer shared details of her upcoming project, out October 20, teasing a handful of collaborations – a rare occurrence in a career that spans 26 studio albums.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the diva revealed this time around she’s called on some special guests for the record, sharing: “I really am proud of this. It’s a Cher Christmas album. It’s not your mother’s Christmas album.
“I’m really, really excited because there’s millions of people on it!” she added. “I’ve never had duets! I’ve never had people on any of my records! This was a last-minute thing… but they’re special. All of them.”
Earlier this summer, Cher first teased the festive collection on Twitter, writing: “Almost Finished [Christmas emojis] 2 more …12. [sic]”
In a subsequent post, the Strong Enough hitmaker added: “Many Surprises. This is Cher [Christmas] Album. Not Ur Mamas [Christmas]. It’s scary to make something so Different . I [love] it, One Som is one of favorites EVER. [sic]”
