Danish pop duo Infernal are back with a brand new single – a cover of Sandra’s classic ’80s hit Maria Magdalena.
Lina Rafn and Paw Lagermann, who launched their careers in 1997 and shot to international fame with mid-’00s smash From Paris to Berlin, released their re-working of the tune on Friday.
While their rendition of Self Control – a massive hit for Laura Branigan and Top 20 chart hit for Infernal – was straight-up pop, the new recording is moody and atmospheric, while retaining all the electronic flair we’ve come to expect from the duo.
It’s the latest in a series of standalone singles from Infernal – who haven’t released a full album since 2010’s Fall from Grace.
