David Bowie’s ‘Aladdin Sane’ is set to be reissued in celebration of its 50th anniversary.
The sixth album from the late superstar was originally released in 1973 as the follow-up to the classic ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’, which appeared one year prior.
Amid that LP’s success, the majority of the tracks were written while on the road in the US and, for the new edition, have been remastered at half speed and will be released on standard black vinyl and picture disc vinyl.
On 14th April 2023, one week before its Golden Jubilee, ALADDIN SANE will be issued as a limited edition 50th anniversary half-speed mastered LP and a picture disc LP pressed from the same master. According to a press release, the pressing was “cut on a customised late Neumann VMS80 lathe with fully recapped electronics from 192kHz restored masters of the original master tapes, with no additional processing on transfer.”
The half-speed record was cut by John Webber at London’s AIR Studios.
Alongside an announcement of the reissue, a 4K remastered version of The Jean Genie music video has been made available.
‘Aladdin Sane (50th Anniversary)’ is out April 14 and available to pre-order now.
