Sam Ryder was joined by Melanie C for a performance of her classic hit When You’re Gone as the Eurovision star helped Britain ring in 2023.
The Space Man singer invited the Spice Girls star on stage to perform her 1998 Bryan Adams collaboration as part of ‘Sam Ryder Rocks New Year’s Eve’.
“I can’t think of a better way to round off 2022 than joining the wonderful @SamRyderMusic on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer on tonight’s All-Star New Year’s Eve,” tweeted Melanie.

Sharing the news that his show was watched by an impressive overnight audience of 11.1 million views, Sam added: “2 will always be our lucky number but… last night 11.1 million fabulous legends tuned into our NYE show and the album looks like it’s heading to number 1 AGAIN!
“I’m giving all the credit to @MelanieCmusic for bringing that @spicegirls ‘2 become 1’ energy.”
The show saw Sam perform tracks from his debut album, ‘There’s Nothing But Space, Man!’, along with a selection of cover versions, and also featured appearances from The Darkness star Justin Hawkins and Sigrid.
