Donna Summer’s self-titled 1982 album will be feted with an expanded 40th anniversary reissue this autumn.
The long-player features the hit singles Love Is in Control (Finger on the Trigger) and State of Independence and an all-star ensemble of musical heavyweights.
The former, which served as its lead single, was written by the legendary Rod Temperton and Quincy Jones, while the latter features an All-Star Chorus including Lionel Richie, Dionne Warwick, Dianna Ross, Michael Jackson, Brenda Russell, Christopher Cross, Dyan Cannon, James Ingram, Kenny Loggins, Patti Austin, Michael McDonald and Stevie Wonder.
The album also features the Bruce Springsteen-penned and performed Protection, and (If It) Hurts Just A Little.
The new edition includes the original album, along with 7” single versions of the singles, a non-album B-side, the 12” Dance Mix of Love Is in Control (Finger on the Trigger), and a newly authored 8,000-word essay from US writer Christian John Wikane.
A new Le Flex mix of Mystery Of Love is out now.
‘Donna Summer: 40th Anniversary Edition’ is out November 4 and available to pre-order now.
