Kylie Minogue looks set to launch the campaign for her 16th studio album early next year.
The pop legend is hard at work on tracks for the project and according to BMG president Alistair Norbury will offer a first flavour of the LP in the first half of 2023.
In an interview with Headliner Magazine, he said: “Next year we’ll start [the campaign for] our third album with Kylie, and we only expected to do one.
“So the roster is building to a size where it is almost self-sustaining,” he added, confirming the label has planned its “Q1 and Q2” releases for 2023, hinting at a potential launch date.
Kylie’s first release on BMG was 2018’s ‘Golden’ and, reflecting on what brought her to the company, Alistair reveals it was fellow eighties star and Stock Aitken Waterman legend Rick Astley’s success that tempted her.
“On the label side, we very much enjoy this unique position of being our own entity with our own purpose,” he explained. “That works brilliantly when you are talking to our core artist community, which is iconic, established artists.
“We are seen as a home for artists who want to be respected and want creative control and total transparency in marketing budgets.
“And those artists are marketing BMG for us. The success of Rick Astley led to the success of Kylie, and the success of Kylie brought us Louis Tomlinson, who in turn attracted the interest of Rita Ora.
“We have been gifted by our shareholder the right to do deals that are very favourable for the artistic community.”
It was recently reported that Kylie is hard at work on her new record, with insiders revealing: “Kylie didn’t get a chance to tour her last album because of COVID restrictions, but she’s thrown herself back into writing music.
“She really loves being in the studio and is spending this summer working on her next record with some really exciting collaborators like [songwriter] Kamille.
“’DISCO’ proved that she still has what it takes to make a massively successful pop album and people are queuing up to work with her.
“There are major plans in the pipeline and she can’t wait to have another record out and to be back on the road.”
In our review of ‘DISCO’, Retro Pop said the album “comes just in time to help us dance through the darkness and back into the light.
“’DISCO’ is packed with upbeat, care-free ’70s inspired dance music – and, frankly, that’s just what we needed right now!”
