ABBA fans have shared their first reactions to the group’s ‘ABBA Voyage’ concert following an exclusive dress rehearsal performance.
The invitation only event took place on Friday, May 20, with lucky audience members taking to social media to share their thoughts on the groundbreaking production.
The concert features digital recreations of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad performing their biggest hits and fan-favourite cuts, alongside a live 10-piece band, with some calling it “the most amazing experience ever”.
“One of the most spectacular shows that we have seen,” wrote one fan on social media. “Lighting and the set were amazing.”
“The holo tech was OFF. THE. CHARTS,” agreed another. “Spectacular lighting, live band were amazing and a v chic arena to boot.
“What a night,” added another. “Lots of open mouths at an unbelievable show!”
A third user teased: “If that was a ‘rehearsal,’ then that was flawless. I laughed, I welled up…what a treat.”
The group’s ABBAtars are the result of years of work from the band and Industrial Light & Magic, the company founded by movie mogul George Lucas, to perfectly capture each member of the band.
It seems to work has been a triumph, with one fan commenting it was “as if their former selves travelled here from 40 years ago. Pretty spectacular!”
In attendance for the dress rehearsal was Benny Andersson, who reportedly sat in the auditorium with the crowd during the exclusive preview.
‘ABBA Voyage’ opens to the public on May 27. ABBA’s ABBAtars appear on the cover of the Retro Pop 2022 Preview Special, available globally via our Online Store.
