The Wanted have re-released their hit single Gold Forever in memory of the late Tom Parker.
The new version of the track came following a request from Tom’s family to play the song at his memorial, for which the group worked on an alternate arrangement.
Having been played at the service and shared on social media, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes have opted to release the single across platforms.
According to a press release, The Wanted, Island Records, writers & producers will be donating all net proceeds from the first 12 months of sales to The Brain Tumour Charity.
The UK-based charity is dedicated to funding research, raising awareness and providing support and information to people with brain tumours.
Tom died in March following a long battle with a brain tumour, during which he revealed he was writing a tell-all memoir.
In an Instagram post, he said the book, titled ‘Hope’, isn’t about “dying” but about “having faith in hope and daring to dream”.
Tom was diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma and went public with his diagnosis in October 2020. Last year, he revealed the tumour was stable after an MRI scan.
