Marc Almond’s UK tour has once again been postponed after the singer tested positive for Covid-19.
The Soft Cell frontman was due to take the stage later this week for the first in a string of live dates in support of his 2020 solo LP ‘Chaos and a Dancing Star’.
However, just days before the gigs were set to begin, the delay was announced via his official website after Marc and members of his entourage caught coronavirus.
A statement reads: “We are extremely sorry to let you know that next week’s tour will have to be postponed and rescheduled (yet again) due to Marc and band members testing positive with Covid.
“You have all been long suffering with these reschedules and unfortunately it’s the nature of the times we are currently living in. We all look forward to a Covid free time.
“Marc wants to tell you how upset and frustrated he is, especially as we had all been working hard rehearsing a brand new set.”
It continues: “Marc’s symptoms are not too serious but he is certainly not well enough to perform and currently remains an infectious risk to others.
“Everyone’s ticket are valid for the new dates as soon as we can confirm them. Once again we feel really bad for you, the long suffering fans.”
According to the post, Marc’s European tour will still go ahead, with shows set to being in Sweden on May 9.
Soft Cell will release their fifth album ‘*Happiness Not Included‘, featuring 10 new tracks, in May. According to Marc’s bandmate Dave Ball, the LP “reflects the dreadful government we have at the moment and the levels of hypocrisy and incompetence”.
Marc adds: “In this album, I wanted to look at us as a society, a place where we have chosen to put profits before people, money before morality and decency, food before the rights of animals, fanaticism before fairness and our own trivial comforts before the unspeakable agonies of others.”
“I think it’s very much reflective of what’s going on in the world,” Dave continues. “The fact we had someone like [Donald] Trump in power. We’re not in a very good place globally.
“Whatever your political beliefs are, the state [of the world] isn’t too good. And obviously, with all the global warming and all that sort of stuff going on, it’s not fantastically happy times.”
‘*Happiness Not Included’ is available to pre-order on CD, vinyl and cassette.
