Marcella Detroit confirms there have been discussions about more music from Shakespear’s Sister.
In 2019, Marcella reunited with Siobhan Fahey for the first time in 25 years to look back on the duo’s legacy and record new music.
Alongside their ‘Singles Party’ retrospective, Shakespear’s Sister released their ‘Ride Again’ EP, featuring new releases All The Queen’s Horses and When She Finds You, and according to the singer-songwriter more new music is on the cards.
Speaking to the launch issue of Retro Pop, Marcella says: “I’m proud of those songs. I’m proud of what we did.
“She and I wrote them together. I brought my little laptop along and I recorded all those songs and all our vocals and my guitars and everything.”
She adds: “I’m really proud of the work that we did together and that we were able to resolve our differences enough to work together and create this whole new thing for our fans to enjoy. I know they loved it as well. And I’m grateful for that.”
Right now, the duo has nothing set up for the immediate future, but Marcella insists there;s still a future for Shakespear’s Sister.
“I heard from [Siobhan’s] manager [who asked], ‘Would you want to do some more writing?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, sure’,” she says, adding, “But I’ve not heard much.”
