Elton John will play two special hometown shows at Watford FC’s Vicarage Road stadium.
The Tiny Dancer hitmaker, who became Watford FC’s chairman in 1976 and is still Honorary Life-President – will perform on June 3 and 4 next year as part of his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour.
He previously performed at the venue in 1974, 2005 and 2010.
The singer-songwriter said in a statement: “I simply had to play Vicarage Road a final time as part of my ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ Tour.
“My relationship with the club, with the fans, the players and the staff over the years have meant the world to me. Through the good times and the bad, Watford have been a huge part of my life.
“I love the club so dearly, and have had some of the best days of my life in those stands – these shows are going to be so incredibly emotional, and to spend them surrounded by my fellow Watford fans will be wonderful.
“We’ve been on quite the journey together. Come on you ‘Orns!”
Elton’s tour began in 2018 but dates from 2020 onwards were delayed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, with further shows being postponed after the hitmaker suffered a fall.
It comes after the Rocket Man singer released his ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ LP, featuring big-name collaborations with Dua Lipa, Stevie Nicks, Lil Nas X and more.
In a review of the album, Retro Pop called ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ “a fitting chapter at this point in Elton’s six-decade career”.
‘The Lockdown Sessions’ is available on CD, vinyl and cassette.
