Crazy Frog is back – and he’s planning to take over TikTok.
The CGI-animated chart-topper – which beat Coldplay’s Speed Of Sound to No. 1 in 2005 with viral ringtone Axel F – is set to make a comeback on December 10.
Released via Sony Music and Mach 1 Records, the track is described as a new mash-up track about TikTok trends.
Wolfgang Boss, president of A&R at Sony Music and Mach 1 Records boss, tells the BBC: “When we started Crazy Frog, there was no TikTok, it didn’t exist.
“But right now TikTok is super important. It’s basically the number one platform for people to share new music and funny things connected with music.”
The song is once again being produced by Reinhard ‘Voodoo’ Raith.
Crazy Frog – originally known as The Annoying Thing – was created by Daniel Malmedahl in 1997 when he and his mates played around with making the sounds of moped engines as teenagers.
He said at the time: “We had many laughs because it’s so characteristic, this two-stroke engine sound. My friends found it funny when I started imitating it.
“When we recorded it, we found it very, very funny. We laughed until we got tears.”
