A new documentary exploring Janet Jackson’s 2004 Super Bowl costume malfunction will debut later this month.
During the 2004 performance, part of Jackson’s breast was exposed during her halftime performance with Justin Timberlake, with the moment at the centre of ‘The New York Times Presents’ latest instalment.
Following the incident, thousands of complaints were made to TV networks and the special – from the team behind ‘Framing Britney Spears’ – will include footage of the moment, as well as new interviews with those involved.
Throughout the years, conspiracy theories suggested the big reveal was orchestrated in a bid for publicity – notions the FX and Hulu show will explore.
It will also consider the effect of the X-rated moment on the careers of both stars and the differing impact it had on Janet and Justin, respectively.
‘Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson’ will debut on November 19.
Sources revealed earlier this year: “It’s going to be all about the fallout and the suits who f**ked over Janet [at] Viacom.
“They’re reaching out to everyone who was involved: dancers, stylists, directors. Everyone.”
It’s unclear whether Janet and Justin will participate in the film.
