Graham Coxon has his sights set on Hollywood as he plans a sideline career penning scores for horror movies.
The Blur guitarist, who has enjoyed a successful career with the group and as a solo artist, is looking to step away from the stage and pen music for blockbuster movies.
He tells ‘Phil Taggart’s Slacker Podcast’: “Horror movies are a good one to do. I like working in an instrumental way. I like the idea of it, totally, yeah.”
It wouldn’t be his first time working on a screen project; Graham recently provided the soundtrack to Channel 4 series ‘The End of the F***ing World’ and Netflix’s ‘I Am Not Okay with This’ (as Bloodwitch).
Despite his ambitions, the musician, who is set to appear alongside Duran Duran on their new album ‘Future Past’, insists he isn’t done with the group, which last reunited in 2019 for a charity performance.
However, he insists a comeback requires new music, sharing: “Every now and then it’s great to play in front of a big, smiley audience with your amp turned up loud.
“[But] you can’t just do it because you want a bit of adoration. You have to make something new.”
His comments come after frontman Damon Albarn recently revealed the band – also starring Dave Rowntree and Alex James – had discussed hitting the studio.
“Well, we did have a chat recently, but we haven’t really progressed further than that,” said the star, who’ll release his second solo album ‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ in November.
“We did have an idea though; I’ve just been a bit busy at the moment obviously. When it happens, I’ll be made up.
“When it’s wanted, I’ll do it. I don’t want to foist that stuff on anybody unnecessarily.”
