The Culture Club frontman surprised fans earlier this year with ‘Cool Karaoke Vol. 1’, his latest studio LP, which he surprise released exclusively via YouTube and later offered up to streaming platforms.

And according to George, who recently dropped latest single The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread, there’s not too long to wait until he was more music, telling fans on Twitter another record is on the way “soon”.

Responding to one follower, who heaped praise on his latest LP, the Do You Really Want to Hurt Me star teased: “Enjoy the next album. It’s coming soon! :).”

Although no firm details of the album have been confirmed, George told reporters at the 2021 BRIT Awards he had new music on the way, and insisted he’s taking a “kamikaze” approach to new material.

“I’m just going completely kamikaze,” George told NME. “F**k the rules. Don’t tell me what to do anymore.

“I’ve never had this much time to indulge with what I’m doing musically. I make art as well, and I’ve just had a good time being still for a bit and going, ‘Actually, why do I what I do?’

“It’s been an interesting year for me because I finally understand why I do what I do now. I’m at a point where I really don’t want anyone else’s advice. I’m 60 in two months – 60 and defiant.”

The Church of the Poison Mind hitmaker continued: “In the last 10 years I’ve really learned to get out of my way creatively, because I used to go to those terrible songwriting sessions and sit bumcheeks clenched as I tried to write a song.

“Now I just write what I feel. Once you’ve worked out what you want to say then you’ll find a way of saying it.

“I can always tell when something is just clever pop writing, and I have a lot of appreciation for that as well, but sometimes it’s just very lazy. You wouldn’t go into a football ground, take someone from the stands and let them take a penalty, would you?

“I think there’s been this loss of respect for the artistry of songwriting,” he concluded. “People think that all it takes is a laptop and some leads. It really doesn’t. This year, I’ve been reacquainting myself with the art of songwriting – copying lots of things, allowing myself to be influenced.”

News of new music follows George’s announcement that a movie based on his life and career will begin filming over the summer, as he launched a search for the flick’s leading star.

‘Karma Chameleon’ will shoot “in London and around the world,” George reveals, while hinting at casting details for the highly-anticipated project in a new social media video.

After confirming Daniel Mays will play his father, the star also hinted Keanu Reeves could make an appearance, as he revealed an actor has yet to be cast as the singer himself.

“There’s only one problem – and it’s quite major… who’s going to play me,” he teased. “We’re looking for a brave young actor from anywhere in the world to take on the role of his life. And It’s going to be brilliant!”

In addition to the film project, George will hit the road with Culture Club over the summer for a string of Heritage Live dates.
