Madonna has commemorated her 2019 album ‘Madame X’ by inking the letter on her right wrist in red.
The I Rise singer took to Instagram to document herself receiving the new body art from tattoo artist Robbie Ra on Sunday, May 2, writing: “This Revolutionary Business is a Bloody Business.”
“Does everyone get really f**ked up when they get tattoos so they don’t, like, feel anything? Should I drink more wine?,” Madonna asks in the video.
However, the star’s alcohol intake didn’t seem to numb the pain, as Madonna expressed her discomfort throughout the filming, while assuring Robbie: “Even if I complain, don’t feel like you have to stop.
“Because I’m used to people hurting me and I’m also used to being in pain.”
As the clip came to an end, Madonna seemed delighted with the results, showing off her new tattoo and declaring: “Power to the people.”
It’s Madonna’s second tattoo; in December 2020, she added the letters “LRDMSE” to her left wrist as a tribute to her kids: Lourdes, 24, Rocco, 20, David, 15, Mercy, 14, and eight-year-old twins Estere and Stella.
The hitmaker was recently working on the final reshoots for her ‘Madame X’ concert film and documentary special. She supported her 2019 album with an impressive 75-date theatre jaunt, with stops across the US, mainland Europe and the UK through 2019/2020.
After wrapping the trek last March following eight shows in Paris, the Future singer was forced to take some necessary downtime, which included a number of surgeries following an ongoing knee complaint.
While details of the documentary have yet to be confirmed, according to reports Madonna’s taking the show to streaming giant Netflix.
In a recent Instagram post, LA-based production boutique VANDAL – which represents directing duo Sasha Kasiuha and VMA Award winner Nuno Xico – revealed the project in a since-deleted post.
Previewing upcoming “music-driven content”, they wrote: “First up is the Netflix documentary chronicling Madonna’s Madame X Tour.
“Coming from the world of film editorial and visual effects, respectively, Nuno and Sasha juxtapose traditional cinematic art form with cutting edge technologies and other mixed media, [to] create not just a story, but a sensation.”
Additionally, Madonna has been working on a biopic based on her life and career – however the project recently appeared to grind to a halt when collaborator Diablo Cody reportedly quit after encountering difficulties working with the star.
