Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark star Paul Humphreys has tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the band’s return to the live stage.

The Enola Gay hitmakers are due to play their first post-pandemic live show at The O2’s indigo venue in London on June 19 and, in a new social media post, the band announced a handful of extra tickets for the concert.

They wrote: “We are pleased to announce that we are able to make some more in-person pairs of tickets available for the YOU ME & OMD livestream event on June 19th at the indigo venue in London.

“Following government guidelines, we can now release more pairs of socially distanced seats in the back block of the stalls and front block of the balcony. The tickets will be available from the link below at 10am UK time tomorrow.

“Our summer calendar does have gigs and festivals in – we are very much hoping that these will still proceed, but of course there does remain a level of uncertainty until large-scale events (and the planned re-opening on 21st June) get the absolute go-ahead from government.

“Our crew have not worked for well over a year and the YOU ME & OMD event is entirely for their financial benefit. For this reason we really hope that you are able to support us.”

The band added: “Additionally we would like to mention that Paul Humphreys, his wife and baby daughter are all currently COVID-positive, but that their symptoms are mild and they are recovering well.

“Paul is very much looking forward to being back on stage for this gig!”

Tickets for the ‘YOU ME & OMD’ concert are on sale now.

Last year, OMD celebrated the 40th anniversary of their classic hit Enola Gay with a new extended version of the tune. They also released a brand new remix by Hot Chip.

While the track saw a 12″ single release last year, a coloured vinyl pressing will be available on Record Store Day this year.
