It’s a week of comebacks, as Gabrielle, Kelly Rowland, Denise Van Outen and JLS’s Aston Merrygold all drop their new singles. Plus, a never-before-heard Fleetwood Mac live cut and a Shania Twain duet…
Fleetwood Mac – The Chain (Live at Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland, OH, 5/20/80)
Label: Warner
Fleetwood Mac’s classic ‘Live’ album is set to be reissued in May, with the collection featuring a second collection of live recordings from 1975-1982.
This new version of ‘Rumours’ classic The Chain comes from the band’s ‘Tusk’ Tour and showcases the musical power of the group and the inimitable blend of the band’s three vocalists.
The latest release proves bittersweet for fans of the classic supergroup, after singer and pianist Christine McVie recently confirmed she, Stevie Nicks and John McVie would no longer tour with the group.
Gabrielle – Stop Right Now
Label: BMG
Fresh off ‘The Masked Singer‘ stage, Gabrielle has returned with her brand new single, Stop Right Now.
Showcasing the star’s trademark raspy vocals, the piano and drum-driven track holds its own among Gabrielle’s classic ’90s hits.
Stop Right Now is the lead single from ‘Do It Again’ – Gabrielle’s seventh album – which features studio recordings of the songs that Gabrielle performed on ‘The Masked Singer’ plus two new compositions.
Ronan Keating and Shania Twain – Forever and Ever, Amen
Label: Universal
Ronan Keating revisits his 2020 LP, ‘Twenty Twenty’, for a new edit of album track Forever and Ever, Amen with Shania Twain.
The track, a cover of the Randy Travis classic, sees the pair trade off vocals while reflecting on the nature of true love.
Its Valentine’s Weekend release comes after Shania recently teased she was in “new music mode” – four years on from her last album, ‘Now’.
Aston Merrygold – Overboard
JLS star Aston Merrygold is going it alone with his latest solo single, Overboard.
The track, laden with electronic R&B beats, brings the group’s classic sound up to date for 2021 and previews what’s to come from ‘The X Factor’ runners-up ahead of their reunion.
Overboard is Aston’s first release in two years.
Denise Van Outen – On My Own
Label: Menace
West End superstar Denise Van Outen returns to music this week with On My Own – her first solo single in eight years.
The track, a cover of the ‘Les Miserables’ classic, proves the star can still belt out a tune and offers new hope for a studio album in the future.
On My Own supports the Make A Difference Trust, raising money for theatre professionals who are currently out of work due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kelly Rowland – Black Magic
Label: KTR Records
Kelly Rowland celebrates her 40th birthday in style on new single Black Magic.
The former Destiny’s Child star’s first release of 2021 follows last year’s Crazy and is expected to feature on her upcoming fifth solo album.
“We bring the glow to the sun / We bring the laughter to fun / We start the new religion baby / We wooped the world and left it brainless,” she sings on the chorus.
