Boy George has put Harry Styles firmly in the running to play the Culture Club frontman in a biopic about his life.
The Church of the Poison Mind hitmaker reveals producers are considering casting the former One Direction star as him in a new movie, telling talkRADIO the star has “been approached or considered”.
“I know that Harry is embarking on an acting career,” George explains. “I think producers did look at him. I don’t know if it will actually happen.
“At the end of the day, acting is such a craft and I think it’s very challenging to play someone like me, because I think most people have the complete wrong idea of who I am and what I am. And a lot of the stuff about me is weird mythical rubbish.”
The Karma Chameleon singer previously expressed his excitement over the project and teased Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner could take on the lead role.
“There’s been some really interesting suggestions,” he said. “One of the most interesting suggestions was Sophie Turner. [People will say], ‘She can’t play you, she’s a woman’… but when I was 17, I would have loved to have been her.”
Turner responded by tweeting: “I’m SO down @BoyGeorge.”
The cast for the film, written and directed by Sacha Gervasi, has yet to be revealed
