Erasure star Vince Clarke was awarded the Special Recognition prize at the Association Of Independent Music (AIM) Awards on Wednesday evening.
The musician, one half of the electro-pop duo, was presented the award by bandmate Andy Bell, who opened up on his pal’s incredible musical achievements, as well as his distaste for the spotlight, and mantra that, “No publicity is good publicity.”
“It is with my absolute heartfelt pleasure that I present this Special Recognition Award on behalf of the Association Of Independent Music to my mate and comedy partner, Mr. Vincent Clarke,” he smiled.
While Vince didn’t appear to accept the award in person, he later performed alongside Andy for the first-ever live rendition of the duo’s latest single, Nerves of Steel, which was released on Tuesday.
The track follows lead single, Hey Now (Think I Got A Feeling), which premiered back in June, and album track Shot A Satellite, which dropped last month, as the third track to be released from their upcoming 18th album, The Neon.
A video for the single, featuring a number of performers from RuPaul’s Drag Race, is out now.
