In an effort to help, former Soft Cell frontman Marc went live on his website to raise funds with the special virtual gig.

Check out the full performance here.

Announcing the gig, Marc wrote: “Next Friday . A concert for your home from a London Studio obeying social distance rules,” he wrote, alongside a poster for the show.

“It would be lovely of you to support a London studio that is weeks away from closing as are many studios in London despite the fact it is very possible to observe social distance measures in a recording studio with Musicians spaced apart or with recording screens and booths, or taking turns to overdub, or a singer in a live room and the engineer in the separate control room.”

Next Friday . A concert for your home from a London Studio obeying social distance rules . It would be lovely of you to support a London studio that is weeks away from closing as are many studios in London despite the fact it is very possible to observe social distance measures in a recording studio with Musicians spaced apart or with recording screens and booths , or taking turns to overdub, or a singer in a live room and the engineer in the separate control room. The Music industry is in trouble. Not so much for the hugely successful Artists who can afford to take a year off touring and probably have their own recording studios, but they are not the majority of Musicians who rely on touring and using a recording studio , myself included. A lot of Artists can’t rely on record sales, the golden days of selling millions to get to number one are well over and have been diminished further by streaming which is another issue. Many Artists rely on the income that touring generates that after costs don’t always amount to a lot. Of course you aren’t obliged to pay anything and I hope you enjoy our concert anyway . However if you donate something however small it is extremely generous and shows your support . It pays studio costs and Musicians and engineers and those that helped put this on who are getting no or very little help from the Government . We all love live Music and want it to flourish in whatever form until regular concerts come back . For PayPal details go to the link on my website http://www.marcalmond.co.uk/news/ – direct link is on my profile and in my stories. We can’t at this point name the studio but will do on the night . We are worried that people with good intention might come down to the venue and jeopardise social distance . I hope the success of this enables me to do some different shows over coming Months .
