Gary Numan and Tony Hadley are among the first wave of acts to return to the concert stage for Live Nation’s Utilita Live From The Drive-In series.

The concert promoter is hosting the special events at open-air venues like showgrounds, racecourses and airfields across Britain, in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.

Announcing the gigs, Live Nation promoter Peter Taylor says in a press release: “We are excited to bring Utilita Live From The Drive-In to fans across the U.K. This outdoor concert series was created as a way to reimagine the live music experience during a time of social distancing by allowing fans to enjoy concerts in the safest way possible.

“Each event will comply with all official Government guidelines in order to protect fans, artists, crews and staff. We look forward to announcing some of the biggest names across U.K. music and bringing these fantastic artists to a city near you.”

Gary and Tony join Dizzee Rascal, Beverley Knight, Ash, Brand New Heavies, Jack Savoretti, and the Lightning Seeds as the first group of acts to sign up for the nationwide tours.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them clamber on top of the cars. They want it as much as we do. Everyone has been starved of a bit of culture,” Tony told the Daily Mirror.

“People out there just want to get out and have that sense of being together again. And for people who may be worried about going out again, they may very well embrace this drive-in concert.”

According to reports, stars including Rita Ora, Little Mix and Jess Glynne are also in discussions about signing up to play similar gigs.
