The 41 artists selected to compete in the now-cancelled 2020 Eurovision Song Contest will come together virtually for a performance of Katrina and the Waves’ 1997 ESC winning track, Love Shine A Light.

The TV spectacle was set to be held in Rotterdam in the Netherlands in May, but has been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the acts will still get their chance to shine, as bosses announced the singers will come together from the comfort of their homes for a performance of the iconic song on 16 May.

Eurovision bosses previously announced the 2020 entries would not be eligible in next year’s contest. However, the acts have been invited to submit new songs for the 2021 version, should they wish.

The song will premiere as part of Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light, which is set to air in place of the Grand Final on 16 May. The show will “honour all 41 songs, in a non-competitive format, as well as providing plenty of surprises for fans and viewers at home”.

Here’s Katrina and the Waves’ 1997 Eurovision winning track, Love Shine A Light.
