Daft Punk star Thomas Bangalter is returning to music after announcing he’ll provide the score for a new ballet called ‘Mythologies’
Co-produced by Opéra National de Bordeaux and Ballet Preljocal and directed by Angelin Preljocal, the choreographer and founder of Ballet Preljocal, the 90 minute show will tackle the “founding myths that shape the collective imagination”.
Bangalter’s score will be performed by the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine during the performances, which run from July 1-10, 2022, at Bordeaux’s Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux.
More information on the show is available here.
Daft Punk confirmed their split earlier this year with an eight minute video shared to YouTube, showing Thomas and co-star Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in a desert scene as they physically part ways.
Titled ‘Epilogue’, the scene is lifted from their 2006 film ‘Electroma’ and soundtracked by the group’s song Touch.
They released their debut album, ‘Homework’, in 1997 and went on to record a total of four studio albums, culminating with 2013’s ‘Random Access Memories’, featuring the hit single, Get Lucky.
