Bohemian Rhapsody screenwriter Anthony McCarten is working on an official Whitney Houston biopic.
The How Will I Know hitmaker’s estate has been working with Whitney’s longtime mentor Clive Davis to develop I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and they’ve started to gather a team to work on the project.
According to Deadline, Stella Meghie is in talks to direct the movie, which has been described as a “joyous, emotional and heart-breaking celebration of the life and music of the greatest female R&B pop vocalist of all time, tracking her journey from obscurity to musical superstardom”.
Casting information has yet to be revealed. Whitney was previously played by Yaya DeCosta in a 2015 TV movie simply titled Whitney, directed by Angela Bassett
Whitney died in 2012, aged 48, after she was found unconscious in a bathtub.
