Wham! are back at No. 1 on the UK charts as Last Christmas climbs to the top spot earlier than ever.
The classic festive hit from George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley secures its fourth non-consecutive week at the summit, ahead of Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You at No. 2.
“Christmas has indeed come early in 2023,” Ridgeley tells OfficialCharts. “I’m delighted that Last Christmas has once again reached the zenith of the Official Singles Chart, continuing a bit of trend in the 2020s. Long may that continue!
“Merry Christmas, Happy New Year…and thank you!”
Originally released in 1984, Last Christmas finally reached No. 1 in 2021, setting a new record for the longest climb to the top (which was later beaten by Kate Bush and Running Up That Hill in 2022.
It also reached No. 1 in 2022 and started off 2023 as the first chart-topper of the year.
