Village People leader Victor Willis is thriving off the recent disco revival as he lands a new weekly Apple Music radio show.
The star, who performed costumed as a policeman or a naval officer as a member of the dance music ensemble, will front Life Radio with Victor Willis on Saturdays on Apple Music Hits.
Ahead of the show, which debuts on New Year’s Eve at 1 pm, the singer says: “Disco is a historic genre I know well. So, I am excited to work with Apple Music to bring back this era of music through Disco Life Radio.
“I look forward to spinning the hits, and album cuts as well, while welcoming guests who will provide the listening audience with backstories to many of the hits that defined the 1970s.”
During the show, Victor, who penned classic hits including Macho Man, Go West and In the Navy, will spin a timeless selection of disco classics and share personal stories and anecdotes surrounding them and his career.
Victor still performs with the Village People, with its current line-up including James Kwong, Chad Freeman, Jeffrey James Lippold and James Lee.
In 2021, the group’s best-known hit, Y.M.C.A., will be inducted into the 2021 Grammy Hall of Fame.
