Todrick Hall had become “insecure” about his vocal abilities before he appeared on ‘The Masked Singer’ in the US.
The entertainer performed under the guise of Bull and finished in second place on the sixth season of the show, behind singer-songwriter Jewel.
Revealing his stint on the programme inspired him to record his latest LP ‘Algorhythm’, Todrick tells the July 2022 edition of Retro Pop ‘The Masked Singer’ helped him regain his confidence in the studio.
“I think I’ve been afraid to do challenging vocals in the studio, I’m so insecure sometimes,” he says, admitting he “would have never had the courage to sing a lot of things” he performs on his latest album.
While Todrick may be best-known for his blend of traditional singing and rap, he hopes to prove himself as a vocalist.
“I have sung in a lot of my songs but the ones that are the most popular have not really shown what I can do vocally,” the star admits.
“I hope to start to remember what I am capable of doing vocally because honestly, I had forgotten myself for a while.
“This was more an album for me to remember who I am and the gift that I have been given.”
