Drag’s pop princess Tia Kofi has opened up about the inspiration behind her new EP ‘Part 2: The Antidote’.
The collection, which serves as the follow-up to her 2021 release ‘Part 1: The Damage’, features five new tracks, including I Specialise In Love with Little Boots.
Speaking in the August 2022 issue of Retro Pop, Tia admits the latest project has “been a real labour of love”.
“The first EP was called ‘Part 1: The Damage’ and it was all about the experiences that lead you into love and getting your heart broken,” she says. “This is ‘Part 2: The Antidote’ and it’s about searching for that thing or that person or that idea that’s gonna heal you and make you feel whole again – to quote Atomic Kitten.
“It’s a very different vibe in that sense and it’s pretty emotional, to be honest. A lot of the lyrics come from a real genuine place of pain, but also a place of overcoming that and celebrating. And you’ve even got that gorgeous disco cover with Little Boots!”
The ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ star adds: “There’s definitely a range and a lot more features than on the first one, which is really exciting. Collaborating and working with other artists is absolute magic and a real dream come true.
“So I’m really excited about it and I hope you love it!”
