Taylor Swift was the big winner at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) on Sunday (November 10).

During the show, hosted by Rita Ora at Manchester’s Co-op Live, the US star took home three prizes, including Best Video for Fortnight (feat. Post Malone), Best Artist, Best Live and Best US Act. 

She was followed by South African star Tyla, who followed with her first-ever MTV EMAs wins, for Best Afrobeats, Best R&B and Best African Act.

Other winners included Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Calvin Harris, SIA, RAYE and Pet Shop Boys, who took home the inaugural Pop Pioneer prize.

The night also featured performances by the West End Girls hitmakers, along with Mendes, Tyla, Benson Boone, LE SSERAFIM, The Warning, RAYE, Peso Pluma and Estevan Plazola, plus Busta Rhymes, who received the Global Icon award.

Meanwhile, Ora paid tribute to her friend and For You collaborator, former One Direction star Liam Payne, who passed away last month at age 31 after falling from a balcony in Argentina.

“He had the biggest heart and was always the first person to offer help in any way that he could. He brought so much joy to every room he walked into, and he left such a mark on this world,” she said.

“So, let’s just take a moment to remember our friend Liam.” A montage of photos was then shown during the ceremony.
