The decade is often characterised by the rise of such acts and the impact of the Manchester scene, which dominated the charts mid-way through the era, but the Simply Red frontman believes their success is overstated.
The follow-up to Better With You and Shades 22 is a guitar and bass-driven throwdown, harking back to the group’s earliest offerings.
The 13th album from the group – featuring the singles Better With You and Shades 22 – is due May 26, after which the band will play their most intimate London show since playing the same venue back in 2005 on June 5.
Shades 22 follows the band’s previous single Better With You, which came out came out in March alongside news of the follow-up to 2019 LP ‘Blue Eyed Soul.
Due May 26, the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Blue Eyed Soul’ was recorded in London with longstanding producer Andy Wright and sees frontman Mick Hucknall at his best, alongside his close-knit group of touring musicians.
Following a hugely-successful run of 73 gigs throughout 2022, Simply Red will return to the stage next summer for a series of shows across Europe.
