Sparks have released the lead single from their new album ‘The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte’.
The first song to be issued from the LP is its title track, which premiered on BBC Radio 6 on Thursday morning and is available now across digital platforms.
Alongside the single, a music video features actress Cate Blanchett, with band members Ron and Russell Mael saying in a statement: “We met Cate Blanchett in Paris at the César Awards last year, little knowing that a year later, one of the great actors of our time (and a splendid person!) would graciously consent to lending her bootie-shaking skills to the first video from our new album, ‘The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte’.
“Dreams really do come true. We will sleep well tonight knowing that forever we can say we co-starred in a film with Cate Blanchett!”
Described by the band as a record that is “as bold and uncompromising as anything we did back then, or for that matter, anytime throughout our career,” ‘The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte’ will be released on May 26.
In support of the album, Sparks will embark on a World Tour which includes stops in Europe, North America and Japan.
Tickets are on general sale now. ‘The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte’ is out May 26 on Island and available to pre-order now.
