Sophie Ellis-Bextor will miss a handful of live dates after her family tested positive for Covid-19.

The Crying at the Discotheque singer was set to hit the stage at Camp Bestival, Rock Oyster Festival and Valley Fest over the weekend, but has dropped out of the line-up after her kids came down with the virus.

“They are ok, just sad about missing the weekend. lots of love to @CampBestival, @RockOysterFest and @LoveValleyFest.

“For me, it’s sofa snuggles with Wizard of Oz xx.”

Sophie became a lockdown icon during the pandemic with her series of Kitchen Disco livestream shows, which ran Fridays and featured the star performing classic hits and cover versions from her family’s kitchen.

The shows spawned Sophie’s first Greatest Hits album, ‘Songs from the Kitchen Disco’, with Retro Pop calling her a “brilliant pop star and one of Britain’s premier songwriters,” noting that “20 years into her career, her music is as wonderful as ever”.

Its turning into a packed year for Sophie, who will see her first four albums – ‘Read My Lips’, ‘Shoot From The Hip’, ‘Trip The Light Fantastic’ and ‘Make a Scene’– pressed on vinyl for the first time in Summer 2021.

In addition to hosting the third season of her hit podcast, ‘Spinning Plates’, the Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me) star is working on her seventh album, which is due for release soon.

A memoir, ‘Spinning Plates: Thoughts on Men, Music and Motherhood’, is also due for release on October 7 and available to pre-order now.
