Robbie Williams is back with with another Christmas hit.
The star reflects on celebrating the holidays during the Covid-19 pandemic in Can’t Stop Christmas, which sees the singer look back on a “miserable year” but insist “nothing” is going to stop him enjoying the festive season.
“You can’t take away our season / Like you can’t take away the wine / Santa’s on his sleigh / But now he’s two metres away,” he sings.
Other references to the coronavirus include lines about “socks and sanitiser” and the star suggesting: “Let’s lie to Santa Claus / Tell him it’s 1984.”
Robbie unveiled the track by taking out an advert in his hometown newspaper, The Stoke Sentinel, on Thursday, with the tune being featured on a new edition of Robbie’s festive 2019 album, The Christmas Present.
The chart-topping LP features duets with Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Jamie Cullum and boxer Tyson Fury.
