Melanie C is determined to get to work on a Spice Girls biopic.
While the star is riding high on her UK Top 10 self-titled album, which hit the charts last week, she’s still got her mind on future band projects – which include a big-screen biopic.
“I think it’s the perfect time, really,” she tells Lorraine. “When you look back at last year, the nostalgia – so many people came to the shows and they were reliving their childhood.
“I think the music and the story of the Spice Girls, the beginnings of it, everything that happened in between, I think it’s perfect subject matter for one of those movies.”
The girls released Spice World: The Movie back in 1997 and have been developing an animated superhero film based on their Spice Girls personas with Paramount Animation.
Discussing rumoured plans to return to the road to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2021 – just two years after their 2019 Spice World Tour – she adds: “We had the most incredible year last year, playing stadiums and we have got to do it again.
“We talk about it all the time,” explains the Fearless star. “Of course this year has thrown everything into chaos, I think a lot of the big artists that were planning to perform this year will move to next year, so sadly it probably will delay the Spice Girls getting back on stage.
“But I’m doing everything in my power to make that happen,” she insists.
