Following her solo set this weekend, Melanie C has declared all of the Spice Girls would be up for reuniting to play at Glastonbury 2024.
The I Turn To You hitmaker performed tracks from across her career and even staged a surprise duet with Tom Grennan on her classic Bryan Adams collaboration, When You’re Gone.
Speaking on BBC Radio 6, Melanie admitted she, Geri Horner, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham would like to play the legendary event together.
“All of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto, that is the truth,” she teased. “Like I said to the audience [on Saturday night], doing a couple of Spice Girls songs, ‘a bit of a warm-up for next year?’ They’re rehearsed, they know the words, they’re ready.
“So, if I can drag the other girls along… I say ‘drag’ the other girls along – all of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto, that is the truth. It’s just getting it together, the timing being right.”
The group reunited for their ‘Spice World Tour’ back in 2019 as a four-piece, with Victoria last appearing alongside the original line-up at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Admitting that while some of the band have not performed “in years”, the chance to headline Glastonbury would be the “ultimate bucket list” moment, Melanie added: “And it’s quite daunting, some of the girls haven’t been up on stage for years.
“But I think it’s, we call it [playing Glastonbury] the bucket list, because as an artist it really is the ultimate.”
The Wannabe hitmakers had been heavily rumoured to play the event this year but back in January Melanie ruled out a Spice Girls reunion this time around, insisting it “just doesn’t fit with the current plan with the girls”.
