Mel B would love to reunite with Missy Elliott on another collaboration.
The pair first joined forces on I Want You Back, which was released as a single from the soundtrack to the 1998 film ‘Why Do Fools Fall In Love’ and later included on the Spice Girls star’s debut solo album, ‘Hot’ (2000).
Recalling how the collaboration came about, Mel told Attitude: “She called me out of the blue, and I was like, ‘I’ll have to call you back…’ I was the first one to do anything solo.
“The girls gave me permission, and then I was like, ‘I’m four months’ pregnant [with daughter Phoenix], and she wants me in a bikini in glow-in-the-dark body paint.’ And we had 34 hours to film it.”
She added: “We’re [still] in contact! I’m always saying, ‘Come on – let’s do something together again!'”
‘Hot’ also includes the singles Tell Me, Feels So Good and Lullaby, with Mel reflecting of the record: “I really enjoyed that [album]. I got to work with people I was a fan of: Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Sisqó, Timbaland. I still jam out to it!”
Mel released her second and most-recent studio album, ‘L.A. State of Mind’, in 2005, and on the prospects of releasing a follow-up almost 20 years later she said: “I do write a lot. Although a lot of it only makes sense to me!”
