Madonna has matched Kylie Minogue as the only female artist to score a UK No. 1 album in five separate decades.
The Queen of Pop’s latest LP, ‘Confessions II‘ – a sequel to her 2005 classic, ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’ – debuted atop the countdown, earning her the milestone achievement in the process.
It’s Madge’s 13’s overall No. 1 in the country and her first since ‘MDNA’ in 2012.
Her chart-toppers by decade are: 1980s – ‘Like A Virgin’ (1984), ‘True Blue’ (1986), ‘Like A Prayer’ (1989); 1990s – ‘The Immaculate Collection’ (1990), ‘Evita: The Complete Motion Picture Soundtrack’ (1996), ‘Ray Of Light’ (1998); 2000s – ‘Music’ (2000), ‘American Life’ (2003), ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ (2005), ‘Hard Candy’ (2008), ‘Celebration’ (2009); 2010s – ‘MDNA’ (2012); 2020s – ‘Confessions II’ (2026).
After topping the charts in the US, along with various other countries, the ‘Bring Your Love‘ singer took to social media to share her gratitude with fans for their support of her latest project.
“Words cannot express how grateful and surprised I am by the incredible reception Confessions on a Dance Floor has received,” she penned.
“Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this and who has helped make this dream come true. Especially my Fans. The Goodwill and positivity has been incredible. I’m still pinching myself.
“I can’t believe it’s #1 all around the world. My dream was to make people dance this summer!! To bring people JOY! Dreams do come true. Thanks and love!”
