Madonna has opened up about the chronic pain she endured before undergoing a hip replacement.
The Hollywood star underwent the surgery last year after sustaining multiple injuries during her global theatre trek in 2019/2020.
Speaking on her ‘Madame X Presents: Madame Xtra Q&A’ Paramount+ and MTV special, she said: “Let me be really honest with you – I used to be, like, a fitness/workout maniac. You probably know that right?
“During my tour – I don’t know if you’ve noticed it, but I’m limping a lot – I was in more pain that I’ve ever been in in my life.”
Referring to herself as a “bionic woman”, Madonna revealed she went under the knife to ease the pain.
“So, how do I stay in shape? It’s all in your head,” she continued. “It’s called will, it’s called no one’s gonna stop me, and how I stay in shape is no one’s gonna stop me.
“And how I stay in shape is I don’t believe in limitations.”
Madonna’s latest ‘Madame X’ concert film features 48 on stage performers and was captured during her six-night residency in Lisbon, Portugal – where she also recorded part of her 2019 LP.
Alongside the film, Madonna dropped a live album featuring tracks from the performance.
In a review of the record, Retro Pop said ‘Madame X (Music From The Theater Xperience)’ “captures the ‘Madame X’ Tour and reaffirms that she is and remains at the top of her game”.
