Kim Wilde has confirmed plans to hit the studio and begin work on her 15th album.
It’s been three years since the ‘80s icon released ‘Here Come the Aliens’ and, during a Q&A for her ‘Pop Don’t Stop: Greatest Hits’ collection, she confirmed new music is on the cards.
The release features hits from across the star’s four-decade career – including Kids In America, Cambodia, You Keep Me Hangin’ On and You Came – along with rarities and remixes, but Kim insists she’s also “moving forward and writing new songs”.
And following recent tracks Shine On with Boy George and the Tom Aspaul collaboration You’re My Karma, she said: “Ricky [Wilde, brother and collaborator] and I are already starting to make plans for our next album…
“Ricky and I are going to be sitting down very soon,” she teased, “and talking about the new album, which is already a little seedling deep down in our souls.
“So you can be absolutely sure that a new album by Kim Wilde is very much in the pipeline.”
Arriving 40 years after her massive debut hit Kids in America, ‘Pop Don’t Stop: Greatest Hits‘ comes courtesy of Cherry Red Records and is available as a standard 2CD set, along with a 5CD + 2DVD edition.
The 2CD version features the radio edits of many of Kim’s classic hits, including View From a Bridge, Love is Holy and Kandy Krush, as well as two brand new tracks.
Meanwhile, the box set features additional singles, as well as B-sides and an eclectic selection of remixes, many of which are making their CD debut.
In our review of the release, Retro Pop praised the compilation for highlighting “the consistent quality of Kim’s output as a singer-songwriter over the past four decades”.
