Kim Petras returns with Future Starts Now as the lead single from her debut album.
The track is the first release from the singer since signing to Republic Records to release her debut album, which follows 2019 extended projects ‘Clarity’ and ‘Turn Off The Light’.
Inspired by ’80s dance tracks and European house music, Future Starts Now was written early in lockdown and inspired by the music she fell in love with on her childhood family trips to Paris
Kim says: “I felt so anxious at the start of lockdown, because for me the most anxiety-inducing thing is not being able to work and do what I love.
“Future Starts Now came from trying to stay present, instead of stressing about the future and all the lost time.”
The new music marks Kim’s first solo release since last year’s standalone track Malibu, which peaked at No. 12 on the UK’s Independent Singles Breakers Chart.
