Kesha has released an acoustic EP of songs from her latest album ‘Gag Order’.
Featuring four tracks from the record – Fine Line, Only Love Can Save Us Now, All I Need Is You and Happy – the release features the songs stripped back to acoustic guitar and vocals.
The EP was released with four performance videos – check them out below.
The pop superstar – who launched into the world charts 15 years ago with her smash hit single TiK ToK – teamed up with producer Rick Rubin on ‘the project ‘Gag Order’, which is billed as her most introspective to date.
In a self-penned manifesto, Kesha says: “Without the darkness there is no light. I finally let my darkness have the light. I cannot fight the truth of this life being difficult and painful. It is for everyone.”
“An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, colour to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably fucking miserable ones,” she adds.
In a review of the album, RETROPOP called ‘Gag Order’ “a bold, defiant statement” which sees Kesha “reclaiming the trauma of the past and channelling it into what’s destined to become her magnum opus”.
