Kesha has shared the singles Fine Line and Eat The Acid from her fifth studio album, ‘Gag Order’.
Teaming up with producer Rick Rubin on her latest project, the double-single offers a first taste of the album, which is billed as her most introspective to date.
A far cry from early hits like TikTok and Die Young, the new material relies on heavy synths and moody electronics, for a sound described by the singer-songwriter as “post-pop”.

According to a press release, ‘Gag Order’ is a “full-bodied collection” that offers a “stream-of-conscious journey through the psychedelic dark depths of the human psyche” and ultimately leaves listeners “basking in the cleansing light when finally reaching the surface”.
In a self-penned manifesto, Kesha says: “Without the darkness there is no light. I finally let my darkness have the light. I cannot fight the truth of this life being difficult and painful. It is for everyone.”
“An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, colour to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably fucking miserable ones,” she adds (via Nylon).
‘Gag Order’ – which clocks in at 13 tracks – is out May 19 and available to pre-order now.
