Kelly Rowland has addressed rumours that Beyoncé‘s new album ‘Act II’ features a Destiny’s Child reunion.
The US superstar released two singles – Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages – from her forthcoming album following an announcement during the Super Bowl earlier this month.
Since the announcement, rumours have been rife about the new album, which is believed to be country-influenced in line with the sound of both tracks, with some speculating that Kelly and Michelle Williams may also join her on the LP.
Speaking with hip-hop commentator Big Tigger on the Atlanta radio station V-103 while promoting her Tyler Perry-produced Netflix film ‘Mea Culpa’, the singer/actress was asked about ‘Act II’ being “either rock-based or a [Destiny’s Child] reunion”.
In response, Kelly said “that is her business to talk about, not mine”, before winking and adding: “Just ask them. I’m here to talk about Mea Culpa that’s out February 23. That’s what I’m most excited about right now. I think that’s that.”
Texas Hold ‘Em, the lead track from ‘Act II’ of the superstar’s ‘Renaissance’ project, launched to the Top of the UK Singles Chart, becoming her sixth overall chart-topper and her first since the Lady Gaga collaboration Telephone in 2010.
Prior to that, her last solo No. 1 was 2008’s If I Were A Boy.
Beyoncé’s other chart-toppers include Crazy In Love with JAY Z (2003), Déjà Vu with JAY Z (2006) and Beautiful Liar with Shakira (2007).
As a member of Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé claimed two further UK No. 1s – Independent Women (2000) and Survivor (2001).
