Ed Sheeran has contributed a new tune to JLS’ forthcoming album.
The group reunited in 2019 and planned to hit stages across the UK for their ‘Beat Again’ Tour the following year – before the pandemic hit and forced the boys to axe their plans.
While the jaunt is on hold, the Everybody in Love stars have been busy in the studio, and according to singer-songwriter Ed, they’ve recorded one of his tracks.
Describing the sound as “classic JLS,” he told Capital FM: “Interestingly enough, and Marvin [Humes] knows this, I’ve actually written a song for them with Steve Mac who did Beat Again and all of that stuff.
“It’s classic JLS. And it was a real, real joy to write, a real joy to write,” he added, teasing, “The harmonies on it – it’s so good!”
Ed previously offered JLS his hit Lego House, but it was turned down by management before it reached singers Marvin, Aston Merrygold, Oritse Williams and JB Gill.
Marvin said last year: “We only found out the other day that Ed wrote a song for us back in the day, and we never heard it, and that song was Lego House!”
News of Ed’s contribution to the album comes after JB shared his excitement over the group’s new music, and confessed he’s been testing out the tracks with the cows on his farm.
He said: “We are working on new material and I do play our songs, especially the new songs, to them.
“I play them the songs that might be potential singles or potential album tracks. I play them out loud when I’m farming and the animals get a blast of the songs.
“If I sit there and study them, they make noises if they like the tracks.”
