Jack Savoretti is busy in the studio putting the “final touches” on his eighth studio album.
The singer-songwriter returned to the top of the UK charts in 2021 with his most-recent LP, ‘Europiana’ – his second No. 1 smash, after 2019 release ‘Singing To Strangers’.
In a post on social media announcing his headline show at Margate’s Dreamland venue next summer, the musician confirmed a follow-up is on the way.
“I’m writing from the studio, where we are putting the final touches to the new album,” he penned, teasing: “I’m going to tell you more about that very soon.”
Last year, RETROPOP caught up with Jack around the time of the release of his deluxe album, ‘Europiana: Encore’, with the Who’s Hurting Who singer hinting towards the direction of his new material.
“I do have something in mind. A word that I always go on about a lot is ‘romance’. I think there’s such a lack of romance in music,” he mused. “And when I say romance, I don’t mean love songs. I mean, epic romantic crafted, theatrical sort of songs, that I have always loved. So I would love to really indulge in that.
“I’m terrified of trends and terrified of ever becoming part of a trend. And I don’t think there’s any way of that happening now. My whole life up until here, especially when you work with big labels, they want you to follow the trend. And my thing is always trying to find something beautiful enough that convinces them to go, ‘OK, go with that. Don’t worry about the trend. Do what you’re doing.’ And that’s including myself; I have to commit to myself again, I don’t just want to do it for the sake of doing it.
“So right now, I would love to do something that deserves to be played at the Royal Albert Hall, put it that way. I’d love to make an album that deserves to be played at the Royal Albert Hall.”
