All signs are pointing to Mariah Carey finally releasing her ‘lost’ grunge album.

In her 2020 memoir, ‘The Meaning Of Mariah Carey’, the diva revealed that she worked on the project secretively in the mid-1990s, alongside the recording of her fifth studio album, ‘Daydream’ (1995).

Titled ‘Someone’s Ugly Daughter’, the LP was released by the band Chick, with vocals by singer Clarissa Dane, however the version with Mariah on lead vocals has yet to materialise.

While promoting her 16th studio album, ‘Here For It All’, however, the elusive chanteuse has spoken on several occasions about the project and even shared snippets of her recordings, with fans anticipating a full release soon.

Last week, the Fantasy singer spoke to SZA about the album in an event for Apple Music, during which they played a snippet of the song Hermit.

Additionally, she has also appeared on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ and confirmed she was taking steps to finally release the album, admitting: “I don’t know which record label this is owned by. I don’t think it’s any of them because it’s just the way that it went down. But let’s discuss…”

Fallon then played another song, titled Prom Queen, and joked that she should drop the album in time for Christmas.

“I always regretted not putting it out, but they kind of stopped me at that point,” the Vision Of Love hitmaker confessed. “It was Sony at the time. We love Sony now, but back then… a little controlling, a little controlling.”
